Peter Buttigieg was born in South Bend, Indiana, on January 19, 1982, and serves as the 19th United States Secretary of Transportation.

Peter started to work after graduating from college, where he worked as an investigative intern at WMAQ-TV.

He was also first exposed to politics after he interned for Democrat Jill Long Thompson in the 2002 congressional bid.

After nearly eight years in the field, he was the Democratic nominee for Indiana’s state treasurer position but lost to Republican incumbent Richard Mourdock.

Then, in 2012, Peter became the 32nd and first openly elected mayor of South Bend, Indiana, serving until 2020.
