Gospel Meets Country with Jeff Sneed of the Sneed family……

About 6 years ago, Country music legend Loretta Lynn wanted to create an event where gospel music and country were both represented. She contacted Jeff Sneed and the process began. Soon the annual Gospel Meets Country event was birthed. The event takes place on the beautiful Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. Many gospel and country music greats have performed over the years including Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle. After suffering a stroke, Loretta stepped back and turned the planning of the event over to Jeff. This year’s event is taking place on Labor Day weekend Aug. 30th to Sept. 2nd, with different events occurring every day. In a recent interview with Jeff Sneed, he filled us in on all the weekend’s events.

The event begins on Thursday, Aug.30 th , at 8 pm with a Sing-a-long where anyone attending can perform with the house band. This event is free to the public. Then, on Friday morning, Aug. 31 st , from 8 am to 12 pm there will be a talent search. Participants will include soloists and groups. Daywind will be awarding the top 2 artists/ groups with a recording package worth $2500 each. There is an entry fee of $150 (per group or soloist) and very few slots remaining to participate. The winners of the recording packages will then perform their winning song in the evening concert along with Triumphant Qt., Karen Peck & New River, Jeff & Sheri Easter, Troy Burns Family, The Easter Brothers, and the Sneed Family. This concert will be held from 4 pm to 10 pm. The Emcee for the weekend will be Mr. Jeremy Cato.

On Saturday, the day’s events begin at 10 am with a full day of great Gospel music featuring Primitive QT, Perrys, Freemans, New Ground with Mickey Bell, Tony Gore, High Road, Steeles, Mike Snider (from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry), and the Sneed Family.
